HTC seeks EVO View 4G trademark, all but confirming WiMAX tablet for Sprint

here's a nice fat slice of pseudo-official confirmation of what we were told a couple of days ago. HTC has laid claim to the trademark of "HTC EVO View 4G," confirming our indications that an EVO View tablet would be coming to Sprint's Now Network. That postulation is also supported by the fact that the EVO branding has only ever appeared in association with Sprint as well as some pretty compelling circumstantial evidence. There is an interesting new piece to the puzzle, however, in the 4G appendage to the device's name, which would imply that we're looking at our first WiMAX tablet -- something Sprint promised for this year and looks set to unveil at the upcoming CTIA 2011 trade show. Our expectation is that the EVO View 4G moniker will be attached to HTC's1.5GHz Flyer, a 7-inch Android Gingerbread slate with aspirations for Honeycomb glory in its near future.

PICTURES - HTC INSPIRE 4G

The guys at Engadget has published a few pictures of the HTC Inspire 4G. The HTC Inspire 4G is one of the bigger smartphones, with 4.3″ screen and a line of capacitive keys below it. We guess it will be very similar to what Europe has in the face of the HTC Desire HD, but with AT&T’s 3G bands. It packs the latest version of HTC’s Sense user interface (Android).Pictures after the break....

Radio Shack taking EVO 4G preorders for $50 deposit, will toss in $20 for accessories

Between Sprint and Best Buy locations, there shouldn't be any shortage of opportunities to score an EVO 4G next month -- assuming inventory holds up, of course -- but Radio Shack's getting in the game, too, and it's sweetening the deal just a little bit. If you reserve a phone prior to launch by purchasing a $50 gift card (which you'll presumably use in June to help pay for the purchase), they'll toss in a $20 credit toward accessories when you come back in. Of course, these days, that doesn't even get you all the way to affording a freaking wall charger, but it's better than a punch in the nose.

HTC EVO 4G earns FCC's blessing, WiMAX and all

Looking at hundreds of FCC documents each and every week, it's pretty difficult for us to get too excited about any particular filing, but there are two words that do it for us each and every time: "LTE" and "WiMAX." In this case, the latter word caught our eye all throughout the filing for HTC model PC36100, which runs WiMAX on Sprint's (and Clearwire's) 2500MHz band alongside the standard suite of CDMA bands with EV-DO. In other words, folks, yes -- it's true -- you're looking at the frickin' EVO 4G for Sprint. There's not much to see here, really; it's still under confidentiality for the external photos, but at least they've cleared that all-important FCC hurdle on the way to retail, which will be... soon, Sprint? Right? Please?

HTC EVO 4G - CAMERA,HDMI AND HANDS-ON VIDEO

The guys at intomobile takes a look at the new HTC EVO 4G. Similarly to the HD2, the HTC EVO 4G sports a giant 4.3-inch display and a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset. The most interesting thing about it however, is that it’s the first phone in the United States to support Sprint’s WiMAX 4G network. This allows it to take advantage of better video streaming, faster data connectivity and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls. It has HTC’s renowned Sense UI on top of Android 2.1, which means users will have access to thousands of applications. Another premium feature of the smartphone is the 8MP camera with HD video recording capabilities.

Intomobile takes the HTC EVO 4G (Supersonic) 8-megapixel camera and HD camcorder for a spin. Notice the camera’s lack of shutter lag and incredible variety of camera controls. The controls themselves have been refined with scroll-wheel interfaces for easy adjustment. The camcorder shoots butter-smooth video in 720p HD.

It’s the first Android phone to rock 4G WiMAX support in the US and will come to market later this year. The phone runs Android 2.1 OS and boasts a 4.3-inch display, 8-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G data, 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, WiFi, GPS, accelerometers, digital compass, HDMI-out port and a kickstand for viewing movies.
